a bike trip down the west coast, surfboard in tow

we are in full prep mode now, with what seems like every moment taken up with planning for our trip, prepping for the wedding, getting the house ready to leave for a year - all while I continues to work full time and we continue to strive for healthy, balanced lives. A few weeks ago I hatched a plan to carry a surfboard along on the first leg of our trip - biking from Portland to San Clemente. Thanks to Mike McCann we now have two bob trailers, one of which will have a custom built surf rack added to it. It all seemed rather dubious until Mike sent this article via email today:

Meanwhile our bathroom is fully ripped apart and every spare non-work moment is going into putting it back together. We just didn't feel like we could rent the house with our one crappy bathroom. After we are done we will hopefully have one nice bathroom.
