We've Arrived
It was a low-riding, bushing-grinding, shock-absorber challenging trip, but we have made it to Santa Cruz. At numerous points along the way, Siskiyou Summit in Oregon and, a bit closer to the end point, Hwy 17 coming into Santa Cruz, I though for sure that the van would give up the ghost and start rolling backward off the mountain, gathering momentum under the weight of our horribly over-loaded uhaul trailer. But (and lets all praise good old American engineering and manufacture), the Dodge made it, along with all of its contents.
Along the way we've been fortunate to see and, in a few cases, stay with, friends that we haven't seen in a good long while. Just out of Port Angeles we stopped for a few hours in Tacoma to visit with Leda, in God's country for her sister's wedding. Then on to Portland for another few nights with Sandra and Sean. In Eugene we spent a brief but delightful 30 minute visit with Carrie, and then stayed with Chris and Claudia in their beautiful house in Mt. Shasta. And it was the perfect antidate to our last day of driving through dismal Bay Area traffic to be able to pull into Santa Cruz and stay with Dave and Rhondi.
The cats are staying in a Kitty Hotel and we are starting our housing search today.
